Hello! Welcome to my online classroom, I hope you find it useful and educational.

One of my strengths as a teacher is incorporating technology into the curriculum, including a classroom website that was updated frequently with lecture notes and homework assignments, and I have enjoyed adding to the site as my career progresses.

Teachers, please feel free to use anything you find on this site. I have created or adapted many of the activities for my own use from the amazing teachers at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/middleschoolscience/ and from http://sciencespot.net/
Also, you may want to create a free wiki of your own (teachers only). You can visit the Teacher Resources page.

Attached is my CV, and below is some information about how I became a teacher and why I love to teach.

Teaching is my second career - I started out as a chemist and an environmental educator before I really found my niche as a classroom science teacher. I have PA certifications in Environmental Education, General Science, Biology and Earth and Space Science.

I am a High School Science instructor at Carbon Career and Technical Institute, a vocational high school serving the schools in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. Home schools that can send students to academic and trade training are Lehighton Area High School, Jim Thorpe Area High School, Palmerton Area High School, Panther Valley High Schooland Weatherly High School. I teach Biology 1 and Physics during the 2009-2010 school year.

I was blessed to hone my skills at Malvern Peparatory school after earning my Masters degree in Secondary Education at Saint Joseph's University. That was a wonderful experience teaching High School biology to a great group of gentlemen. After much deliberation, I decided to make the move to public school and spent my first teaching years at Chichester School Middle Schoolin Boothwyn, Delaware County, PA teaching my favorites - Forces, Motion and Energy and dabbling in Weather and Climate.

My husband's career took us back to my Mom's hometown, just south of the Poconos in PA, and I was fortunate to recieve a Long Term Sub assignment at Lehighton Area Middle School, where I spent a very happy year, strenghtening my physical science background and adding some chemistry instruction to my repetoire.
